Notifications

Read what happens in your club and your account, and choose how you hear about it.

Read your club’s notifications

Each club has its own inbox. A notification from one club never shows in another club.

A long notification, such as an app update, shows only a line or two. Press Open to read all of it on its own page.

An app update’s own page ends with Have any questions? Message us. Press Message us to ask about the update.

  1. Press the bell at the top of the page to see the newest notifications.
  2. Press All notifications to open the whole inbox.
  3. Press Open on a notification to go to the shift, event, dog or announcement it is about. Opening it marks it as read.
  4. Press Mark as read or Mark as unread on one notification, or Mark all as read at the top.
  5. Type in Search to find a notification by its subject or kind. Use Sort by to put Unread first.

Answer an invitation or a question

A club’s invitation shows Join, Decline and Don’t let this club invite me again. Join adds you to the club at once. Joining shows the club your name and photo, and its Board your email address.

Don’t let this club invite me again also declines the invitation. That club can’t invite you again until you press Allow again under Club invitations in Notification settings.

A request to co-raise a dog shows Accept or Approve, and Decline. A poll, and a question about how satisfied you were with an answer to your message, are answered on the notification itself.

Read your account’s notifications

Notices about you rather than about a club go to your account’s inbox: changes to your password, email and sign-in, club invitations, answers to your join requests, answers to your messages, and news that a club removed you or was deleted.

  1. Inside a club, press the Your clubs button, the four squares at the top left. A number on it means news about your clubs, such as an invitation or an answer to your join request.
  2. On the Your clubs page, press the bell, then All notifications.
  3. In your club’s inbox, you can also press Your account’s inbox.

Choose what reaches you

The rows under Your account apply in every club: Quick tips, App updates, Polls and Club invitations. Account and security notices can’t be turned off.

  1. Press the Settings gear at the top of the page, then Notification settings. The inbox has a Notification settings button too.
  2. Under Your clubs, open a club to see its settings. A change applies in that club only.
  3. On each row, tick or untick In-app, Email and Push notifications. Each change saves at once.

What each club setting covers

New shifts: a new shift is posted that you could sit. My shifts: assignments, cancellations and applications on your shifts. Sitting logs: reminders to write your sitting log, and logs about your dogs.

Reminders: an hour before your shifts and events, plus RSVP requests, event time changes, a place opening for you on an event’s waiting list, a reminder to read a dog’s notes before your shift, and for whoever has Hear when a shift needs a sitter, a shift filled by hand that still has no sitter. Announcements: a new announcement, newsletter or donation cause. New members and puppies: a new club puppy, and for Board, a new member.

Role changes, for officers only: someone adds, changes or removes a role, or changes who holds one. A change to your own role can’t be turned off.

General Members see only Reminders, Announcements and New members and puppies, since they are sent nothing about shifts. Notices about dues and about co-raising a dog can’t be turned off.

Get push notifications on this device

Push is turned on separately on each device. If This device doesn’t show, this browser can’t receive push notifications. If the browser blocks notifications for the app, allow them in the browser’s settings.

  1. Open Notification settings on the phone or computer you want them on.
  2. Under This device, press Turn on push notifications on this device, and allow notifications when the browser asks.
  3. On an iPhone, press Add to Home Screen first and follow the steps, then open the app from the Home Screen.
  4. Tick Push notifications on each row you want pushed to you.

Mute clubs you join later

Every club you join from then on starts with every box unticked. Tick what you want in that club. A club you start yourself never starts muted, and a club you join again keeps the settings you left it with.

  1. Open Notification settings.
  2. Under Your account, tick Mute new clubs.
