Puppies

The dogs the club is raising now, and each dog’s profile and sitting notes.

Find a puppy

Your own dog is listed first, with a paw on its photo. Each card shows the dog’s age, breed and color, and who raises it.

A badge such as Under 6 marks a young dog, by the age set under Young dogs on the Club page. A dog with no birth date counts as young. Sitters who are not certified for young dogs see these cards in grey and cannot read the dog’s notes.

Not finished yet marks a draft profile, which only its raisers and Board can see. On a dog’s birthday, its card and profile are decorated. Below the list is one dog from the puppy alumni, a different one each day.

  1. Open Puppies from the menu.
  2. Type a dog’s name or a raiser’s name in Search.
  3. Or type in the search box at the top of any club page. It opens Puppies with your words in Search.
  4. Pick an order in Sort by: Oldest first, Youngest first or Name.
  5. Press a dog’s card to open its profile.

Add a puppy

Raisers and Board

A new dog is a draft until you press Show the club on its profile. Only its raisers and Board can see a draft. Show the club needs at least one section with writing in it or one ticked command, and the other members get a notification when the dog joins.

A new profile starts with the sections and commands set under New dog profiles on the Club page.

A member raises one dog at a time. A raiser who already has a dog sees a button to edit that dog’s profile instead of Add a puppy.

  1. Press Add a puppy.
  2. Type the Puppy name. Add the Birth date, Breed, Color and Instagram link if you have them.
  3. Pick the Raiser, if you are on the Board. A raiser who adds a dog is its raiser.
  4. Pick a Co-raiser if two people raise the dog. The person you pick gets an invitation to accept.
  5. Press Continue to the profile.
  6. Add the photo and sitting notes, then press Show the club.

Change a dog’s photo and facts

The dog’s raisers and Board

Each fact saves on its own. Only Board can change the Raiser, which hands the dog to another member. Only members who do not raise a dog yet are listed.

The choices for Breed and Color are the club’s own lists, set under Breeds and colors on the Club page. Once a dog is archived, only Board can change its profile.

The dog’s raisers and Board also see Shift history: every shift posted for the dog, with its sitter and sitting log.

  1. Open the dog’s profile.
  2. Press the pencil on the photo and choose a JPEG, PNG or WebP picture of up to 5 MB.
  3. Drag the picture and use Zoom to choose the part that shows: the part inside the line is what the dog’s card shows. Fill in Describe the photo, and press Save photo.
  4. Press the dog’s name, or the value beside Breed, Color, Born or Co-raiser, to change it.
  5. Press Enter or click elsewhere to save, or press Escape to cancel.
  6. Press the Instagram mark to add or change the dog’s Instagram link.
  7. Press the trash can on the photo to remove the photo.

Write and read sitting notes

The dog’s raisers and Board write them; sitters read them

Sitters open each section, read it, and press Got it. They must mark every section before they can apply for the dog’s shifts. A section changed after they read it shows Changed since you read it and needs Got it again. Moving a section does not count as a change.

Sitters see only the commands you ticked, and can open the files under Documents. General Members see a dog’s photo and facts but not its notes or files.

A section with a name must have writing in it before you can save. If someone else saved the notes while you were editing, press Save notes again to keep your version.

  1. Open the dog’s profile and go to Sitting notes.
  2. Write in each section, or press Add section and type a name for a new one.
  3. Move a section with its arrows or by dragging its handle, or press × to remove it.
  4. Tick each command the dog knows in the commands section, and add a note if needed. Press Add command for one that is not listed.
  5. Press Save notes.
  6. Drop a file on the Attach a file box under Documents, or press the box to choose one. Files attach at once, without Save notes.

Set questions for sitters

The dog’s raisers and Board

Sitter-check questions test a sitter on your notes before they can apply for a shift. They must get every answer right in one go, and they get two tries for each shift. After a second miss, that shift is closed to them.

Each sitter-check question is about one saved section of the notes. Save a new section before you ask about it. Removing a section removes its questions.

Every sitting log asks Overall, What happened, and Started and finished. Sitting-log questions add your own questions after these.

  1. Open Sitter-check questions on the dog’s profile.
  2. Press Add question, pick the Section and the Answer type, write the Question, and mark the right answer.
  3. Press Save check.
  4. Open Sitting-log questions, press Add question, and pick an Answer type.
  5. Tick The sitter must answer if the question cannot be skipped, then press Save questions.
  6. Open a shift under Change the questions for one shift to give it its own questions, then press Save for this shift.

Share a dog with a co-raiser

Raisers and Board

A co-raiser can do everything on the dog’s profile that the raiser can. Only Board can change who the Raiser is.

A member raises one dog at a time, so only members who do not raise a dog can be invited or ask. Ask to co-raise appears for raisers on a dog that has no co-raiser.

  1. Press the value beside Co-raiser on the dog’s profile and pick the member you want to invite.
  2. Press Accept or Decline on the dog’s profile when someone invites you. You get a notification about the invitation.
  3. Press Ask to co-raise on another raiser’s dog to ask to share it.
  4. Press Approve or Decline on your dog’s profile when someone asks. The raiser gets a notification, and Board can answer too.
  5. Pick None beside Co-raiser to remove the co-raiser or withdraw an invitation. Press Withdraw to take back your own request.

Keep a member off a dog’s shifts

Board members who can keep members off shifts

A restricted member does not see the dog’s shifts and cannot be assigned to them. Applications they already made for its shifts are withdrawn.

  1. Open the dog’s profile and go to Restricted sitters.
  2. Pick the Member and press Restrict.
  3. Press Remove beside a name to let that member take the dog’s shifts again.

Archive or delete a puppy

The dog’s raisers and Board

Archive puppy takes the dog off the puppy list and cancels its shifts that have not started. Everyone on those shifts gets one notice. Its past shifts, sitting logs and notes are kept, and a co-raiser invitation or request still waiting is closed. After that, only Board can change, restore or delete the profile.

Delete puppy removes the dog with all its shifts, sitting logs and files. It cannot be undone.

When a dog leaves the program, members who manage the alumni can press Add to alumni to start its alumni profile from this dog.

A dog that already has an alumni page shows See in alumni instead. A dog moved back from the alumni shows Back to alumni, which puts its alumni page on the alumni list again.

  1. Open the dog’s profile and go to the buttons at the bottom.
  2. Press Archive puppy or Delete puppy.
  3. Press Archive or Delete forever to confirm.

See and restore archived puppies

Board only

Archived puppies lists the dogs taken off the puppy list, the most recently archived first, with their raisers and the day they were archived.

Restore puppy puts the dog back on the puppy list with the raisers you pick. Only members who do not raise a dog yet are listed. Shifts canceled when the dog was archived stay canceled. If the dog has a page on the alumni list, that page is hidden until someone presses Back to alumni.

  1. Open Puppies and press Archived puppies.
  2. Press a dog’s card to open its profile.
  3. Press Restore puppy at the bottom of the profile.
  4. Pick the Raiser, and the Co-raiser if there is one, then press Restore.
